Hatherleigh Town in Devon
The smallest town in the county, Hatherleigh is a market town in West Devon with a population of just under 1,400 people.
The town lies at the meeting point of the A386 and A3072 roads and lies 7 miles north of Okehampton and about 14 miles south of Great Torrington and is quite picturesque with several of its buildings whitewashed with thatched roofs.
Hatherleigh Market has weekly sales of sheep, cattle, poultry with increased sales on Tuesdays. An annual half-marathon called the Ruby Run takes place usually in June between Holsworthy and Hatherleigh, starting from each town in alternate years.
