Okehampton Town in Devon
Located at the northern fringe of Dartmoor, Okehampton is excellently placed to explore the whole of Devon and Cornwall as well as being the 'Gateway to Dartmoor'. Highlights of the area include the 14th century Okehampton Castle, Finch Foundry at nearby Sticklepath, Castle Drogo at Drewsteignton, Gidleigh Park and Chagford. The Dartmoor Railway operate a heritage passenger service from Okehampton station, running to Sampford Courtenay and Meldon. A summer Sunday service from Exeter to Okehampton operates as part of the Dartmoor Sunday Rover network. Northern Dartmoor has a lot to offer with the best locations being High Willhays and Yes Tor as well as Fernworthy forest and reservoir. The town has a population of just over 7,000.
