Alverdiscott village, Devon
Known locally as Alscott, Alverdiscott is a small village and parish situated alongside the B3232 Great Torrington to Barnstaple road in the Torridge district of Devon, about seven miles south of Barnstaple. The parish had a population of 281 in the 2001 Census.
Its church has a Norman font and doorway and a sixteenth century pulpit. The church stands at the top of the village and commands good views of the North Devon countryside.
The site of a Roman fort lies close by the village. The area is a popular holiday destination for holiday lodges, since the village is near Barnstaple and the North Devon coast.
