Chudleigh village, Devon
Chudleigh is a market town in South Devon. It lies about 4 miles northeast of Bovey Tracey and is roughly halfway between Newton Abbot and Exeter. The town had a population of 6,125 in the 2011 Census and consists largely of early 19th century buildings with modern infilling. Chudleigh used to stand alongside an important coaching route between Plymouth and Exeter but has been bypassed by the A38 trunk road since 1972. The town is excellently placed just east of Dartmoor and close enough to Newton Abbot and Exeter to serve as a commuter town. The coastal resorts of Teignmouth, Exmouth and Torbay are all within easy reach.
The parish church dates from the 13th Century and is dedicated to St. Mary and St. Martin.
