Malborough village, Devon
Malborough is a village located on a 400ft high plateau in the South Hams region of South Devon. It lies alongside the A381 between Kingsbridge and Salcombe, and is a popular village for tourists with many holiday homes located around the village.
Malborough can be seen from many miles away throughout the South Hams region, due to the magnificent spire at All Saints church, which is located at the highest point of the village. A church with a spire is rare around the South Coast of England, due to Malborough being excluded from many battles in history, where traditionally a church with a tower will be used for an advantage in war. It is also believed that Malborough was once home to groups such as the Vikings.
The village has two pubs, a large village hall and playing fields, a hotel/restaurant, a primary school, a post office and a football team.
There are excellent walks around here between Bolt Head and Bolt Tail, largely under the stewardship of the National Trust.
