Thurlestone village, Devon
The village of Thurlestone lies on the South coast of Devon, within the South Hams District, on the southern side of Bigbury Bay. About five miles west of Kingsbridge, it had a population in the 2011 Census of 1,886.
The village is thought to take its name from the holed rock or 'thirled stone' that lies offshore about a mile away to the southwest.
The village's All Saints church is built of the dark grey local slate. The chancel is early 13th century; the remainder of the church 15th and 16th century.
