Tuckenhay village, Devon

The hamlet of Tuckenhay was founded by Abraham Tucker of Bridport in 1806. Tuckenhay grew into a busy port trading in lime, corn, paper, cider and malt. By the mid 1800’s cider and malt were produced on the quayside. William Manning and John Earle owned a cider works and Thomas Edmond’s malt house gave the name to the pub - The Maltsters Arms. Formerly owned by flamboyant TV Chef Keith Floyd, the inn is an excellent place to wile away the hours if in the area.
