The Princess Theatre first opened its doors on Wednesday 7th June 1961. Top of the bill on the opening night were the late, great Tommy Cooper and the legendary Morecambe and Wise.
Since then the Princess Theatre has seen a wide variety of entertainment including comedians, musicals and West End shows. Over the last few years the theatre has hosted many sell out shows such as Chicago, Legally Blonde, Calendar Girls, The Rocky Horror Show and most recently Starlight Express.
The Agatha Christie Company also pay an annual visit to the theatre during the Agatha Christie Festival week in September.
The theatre also offers some hilarious entertainment with several top TV comedians visiting each year. Previously the line up has included Jimmy Carr, Sarah Millican, Rhod Gilbert and many more!
The Princess Theatre really does offer something for everyone and this is evident by the high number of sell out shows each year. So, for a great night out on the English Riviera why not take in an evening of entertainment at Torquay's busiest theatre!
Tickets for the Princess Theatre are available to purchase from the English Riviera Visitor Information Centre on Vaughan Parade in Torquay (next to the Harbourside). There are no booking fees when purchased from the Information Office (only a £1 debit or credit card charge).
