Challaborough
Granted a Blue Flag Award for 2015, Challaborough Beach lies just to the west of Bigbury on Sea in South Devon.
The large horseshoe-shaped cove faces southwest and consists of pale golden sand. It slopes gently and is easily accessed.
Challaborough has a wide range of facilities including parking, toilets as well as lifeguard cover in sesaon. Refreshments are available at a beach café, whilst the beach shop hires out surfboards and wetsuits. The nearby 'Waterfront Bar & Restaurant' at Challaborough Bay Holiday Park offers stunning sea views, and is the perfect place for the whole family to unwind.
A good swimming and surfing beach, Challaborough can be quite busy in high season due its proximity to the holiday park.
For keen ramblers, the South West Coast Path runs around the back of the beach on its way southwest to Bigbury-on-Sea, Burgh Island, Bantham and Thurlestone and northwest passing Ayrmer Cove to Wonwell and the estuary of the River Erme.
