Croyde
Croyde is arguably one of North Devon's best surfing beaches. Its triangular shaped west-facing beach of fine golden sand has all the normal facilities and is backed by low dunes.
The 875 yard long beach is family friendly but parents should be aware of dangerous undercurrents and rip tides. Any bathing should be done within the lifeguard-patrolled area. Jet skis, windsurfing and kitesurfing are NOT allowed.
There is daily RNLI Lifeguard cover between early May and the end of September, activities include surf lessons, surfing courses and surf holidays offered by 'Surf South West'. There are even riding stables offering equestrian beach riding holidays with the chance to canter along the beach or ride through the waves.
The proximity of a pair of holiday camps and a number of campsites also make Croyde very popular in Summer. Out of season, you can often have the beach to yourself and there are also some excellent views of Lundy Island from the beach.
The walk to Baggy Point is a favourite with locals and there are a couple of good sized car parks nearby to cater for this.
