Outer Hope
Also known as Mouthwell Sands, Outer Hope beach is a small west-facing beach on the South Devon coast near Galmpton, just north of Bolt Tail.
The beach consists of golden sand with rocks and lies roughly halfway between Bigbury-on Sea and Salcombe. Sheltered from the south and west by the headland of Bolt Tail, Mouthwell Sands has easy access via a slipway and is backed by rocky cliffs.
The beach has an excellent range of facilities considering its size and is popular with families.
Limited parking, public conveniences and refreshments are all available nearby. Lifeguards patrol the beach in high season.
A 'Seasonal dog ban' operates at Mouthwell Sands, Dogs are not permitted on the beach between 1st May and 30th September.
There are some fine walks along the South West Coast Path north in the direction of Thurlestone and around Bolt Tail southeast towards Bolberry Down and Soar Mill Cove.
