Shaldon
Shaldon beach lies on the south bank of the River Teign opposite Teignmouth on the South Devon coast.
Consisting of a mixture of typical red Devon sand and gravel, the beach looks across the water to The Point in Teignmouth. Many small boats are usually hauled up and moored on its sloping banks offering something to catch the eye if relaxing on the Riverside, Strand or Marine Parade - all running just above the shore.
Not quite so busy as the neighbouring town, Shaldon still has all the facilities and amenities you may require. Facilities include parking, toilets, shops, cafés, and a number of inns. Access to the beach is good and it can be reached via the Teignmouth and Shaldon Bridge or directly from Teignmouth by foot ferry for a small charge.
Overlooking the beach is the 'Ferry Boat Inn', a popular watering hole for locals and visitors alike. Apart from sailing, kayaking, rowing or simply fishing, many tourists just visit to watch the world go by. Shaldon Zoo and Shaldon Ness Cove are well worth a visit if staying locally.
There is no lifeguard cover at Shaldon Beach. A seasonal dog ban is in force from 1st May to 30th September inclusive.
