Situated half a mile northeast of Sydenham Damerel and otherwise known as West Collacombe Mine, Wheal Carpenter was a producer of copper, lead, silver & zinc, working a western extension of Wheal Grace's lode from 1845. The only shaft mentioned is Bridgeman's Engine Shaft. Production records report that as Wheal Carpenter 10 tons of high grade copper ore were raised in 1851. 94 tons of 70% lead ore between 1855-56 as well as 1,617 ounces of silver and 135 tons of zinc ore between 1854 and 1856. As West Collacombe - 256 tons of 5.5 tons of copper ore were produced as well as 21 tons of 63% lead ore, 120 ounces of silver and 137 tons of zinc ore in 1856-57.
