Knap Down Mine lies just under a mile northeast of St. Peter's Church and was known as North Devon Wheal Rose in 1846. It closed in 1848, reopening in 1850 as Knap Down Consols. It is thought that the mine worked an eastern extension of Harris' Lode of Combe Martin Mine from Knap Down Shaft and Vivian's Shaft. Production records report that between 1842 and 1847 it raised 1,146 tons of lead ore.
