Location
The busiest resort in Devon, and known since Victorian times as the 'English Riviera', Torbay consists of an east facing crescent of land including the three major towns of Torquay (64,000), Paignton (48,000) and Brixham, with a population of about 18,000. The area boasts over 500 hotels and has a large number of beaches, in all shapes and sizes to suit your particular needs.
Torquay itself is set on seven hills and in its heyday liked to refer to itself as 'The English Naples'. The area frequented in the 19th century by the gentry and even royalty for many years.
