Russell United Mine is situated half a mile southeast of Gunnislake in West Devon. The mine worked three East-West lodes, namely Main Lode (otherwise known as Impham Lode, Matthews Lode or Russell Lode), Great Lode and South Lode. The mine mainly produced tin copper and arsenic ores. Main Lode was worked from Impham Shaft, Matthew's Shaft and Maria's Shaft. Great Lode was worked from Stevens Shaft and Hamilton's Shaft.
Production records for Russell United report that between 1852 and 1891 - 11,400 tons of 5.5% copper ore, 11 tons of black tin and 10 tons of mispickel wer raised.
