Bedford Consols is situated about 1.5 miles east nor'east of Calstock in the West Devon Mining District. Lying just to the east of Gawton Mine the mine worked Main Lode, South Lode, No.1 South Lode and Tin Lode from Whim Shaft, Sims Shaft, Air Shaft and Engine Shaft. Production records report that in 1854-6, 1869 and 1875-79 - 2,200 tons of 2.5% copper ore. In 1875-79 - 15 tons Pyrite and 500 tons of mispickel (arsenopyrite).
