Lopes Mine is situated about four and a half miles northwest of Plympton in southwest Devon. Situated near the Maristow Estate to the east of the River Tavy. An un-named copper lode was worked from the following six numbered shafts. No.1 Shaft was formerly known as Boswarva's Shaft, No.2 - Tregaskis' Shaft, No.3 - Main Engine Shaft, No.4 - Old Engine Shaft, No.5 - Hunter's Shaft and No.6 - Glebe Shaft. 26 tons of copper ore was raised in 1825
