North Hooe Mine, Devon

North Hooe Mine lies 1.5 miles southwest of Bere Alston. Otherwise known as North Tamar, the mine includes Hancock mine. North Hooe Mine worked in conjunction with South Hooe. In 1842 North Hooe was reopened and 1,200 tons were raised in 1846. It was not as productive as South Hooe however. Abandoned in 1867. It was re-opened in 1901-2 but this came to nothing. Hancock Mine lies on the west bank of the river.
