Newton St Cyres lead mine is located about three and a half miles northwest of Exeter, about half a mile south of Newton St Cyres manganese mine. Opening in about 1770, the mine worked on and off over the years and was described as a 'small operation'. The mine was reopened in 1853 but it is not known if it ever raised any ore.
