Aller Mine lies about half a mile south of Christow on northeastern Dartmoor. It is situated just to the northwest of Wheal Exmouth and Adams and southeast of Birch Aller Mine. In his book 'Mines of Devon', A. K. Hamilton Jenkin states that the mine produced 2,460 tons of manganese ore between 1829 and 1841. whilst H. G. Dines states that the mine worked a number of lodes from Engine Shaft, Old Engine Shaft and Orchard Shaft as well as a number of un-named shafts.
It is believed to have housed a 40-inch pumping engine dating from the 1850s.
