Annabelles Kitchen, Dartmouth

Map showing Annabelles Kitchen, Dartmouth

Annabelles Kitchen restaurant, Dartmouth

Annabelles Kitchen is a Great British Dining room situated right on the waterfront on the South Embankment in Dartmouth. From the restaurant there are simply stunning views of the River Dart and Kingswear beyond.

We serve modern British food using the very best of what Devon and British producers have to offer and we source the vast majority of our ingredients from the South Hams. We are passionate about food and British seasonality and locally sourced, fresh ingredients are key to our dishes. Our menu changes regularly with the seasons to show off British produce at its freshest and tastiest. We personally source all our ingredients, and are very proud of all the farmers, fruit and vegetable growers and fishermen who work to supply us with the most amazing produce. Annabelles is owned and run by Joanna and Jonathan Hodgson

Jan and Freddies Brasserie is situated in the lively heart of Dartmouth. In keeping with the town this stylish brasserie serves a superb range of local foods and wines in a relaxed and friendly setting. The same team have been together virtually since we opened seven years ago and the ethos remains the same now as it was then - good food, a mix of well priced wines all served in an unpretentious atmosphere.

Our chef, Richard Hilson trained formally at Gidleigh Park under Michael Caines and brings with him a wealth of culinary knowledge which has now earned him and his team a coveted second AA rosette and an entry into the Michelin guide. The menu reflects the relaxed style of dining that we offer without the formal emphasis on set menus - local fish, shellfish and carefully reared meat along with good fresh local produce.

The Seahorse Restaurant, Dartmouth

Map showing The Seahorse Restaurant, Dartmouth

The Seahorse Restaurant restaurant, Dartmouth

The Seahorse is all about the best in local seafood cooked over a charcoal fire. The pleasure of a simply grilled fish cooked over an aromatic charcoal fire, or a local steak cooked on the bone, charred, deep red and juicy with just a few herbs and some vegetables or salad of the season is typical of the food you will find on the menu.

With the sea right outside the door the restaurant naturally specialises in local fish and shellfish and often fishermen will drop in their catch during service which it will find its way to the charcoal grill in minutes.

The food here is about great produce prepared simply at the hands of cooks who really love to eat themselves. Crabs are dressed to order for the house crab salad and specialities of the restaurant include local bass roasted in sea salt, a plate of locally caught fried fish and the signature, spaghetti with seafood cooked only for two. The seafood is first class. The local meat in the West Country is wonderful and much of what is supplied to the restaurant is reared on nearby Dartmoor and the South Hams, however a wonderful T Bone of Tuscan Chianina can often be found on the menu as can fresh Mozzarella from Naples, new seasons olive oil and Sardinian artichokes & sea urchins.

The Seahorse has a wine list of over 150 bottles including some very respectfully priced classics, the owners want the wine to be drunk and their selection experienced, so each day the owners will select four or five bottles from the list and sell them by the glass. The restaurant lets great produce and simple cooking speak for itself and service is just how you would expect it, so comfortable you could eat here regularly.
