Wheal Crelake lies about half a mile south of Tavistock in the West Devon Mining District. The mine worked the E-W aligned Main Lode producing copper and arsenic. from Davey's Shaft and Air Shaft. Another crosscourse aligned N.N.W was known as Lead Lode and was worked from Bedford Shaft.
Production records report that between 1859 and 1874 - 11,607 tons of 5.75% copper ore was raised. In 1860-66 - 1,168 tons of 73% lead was raised along with 13,146 ounces of silver. Between 1869 and 1874 - 5,223 tons of mispickel (arsenopyrite) was also produced.
