New East Russell Mine, Devon

New East Russell Mine lies two miles south sou'west of Tavistock in the West Devon Mining District. New East Russell worked Main Lode from Engine Shaft. Nearby, South Wheal Crebor opened in 1830 and worked the same lode. In 1863 it became known as New East Russell.
Production records report that between 1865-1868, New East Russell sold 112 tons of copper ore for £562. In 1868-9 New East Russell closed and reopened in 1870 as Wheal Courtenay.
