East Wheal Crebor Mine, Devon

Situated about a mile south of Tavistock in West Devon, East Wheal Crebor is reported to have started life as East Crowndale in about 1810. The mine worked two lodes, North Lode and South Lode from Engine Shaft. Mining historian H.G. Dines reports that as East Crowndale the mine raised 610 tons of 7.75% copper ore between 1852-54 and in 1869. In 1854, East Crowndale was worked in conjunction with Rix Hill Mine. As East Crebor in 1881, it sold 120 tons of 8.25% copper ore and 33 tons of mispickel.
